The Pro and Cons of the using Social Media Marketing -- Open Rice

As our fellow group mate, Kate, said, Social Media Marketing has a lot of advantages for companies. Starbucks is a very popular and successful case in which Social Media Marketing was used. Another example is "Open Rice", a platform for Foodies to search for restaurants and  share their happiness or unhappiness after their eating experience. It has attracted nearly 450,000 people to post their comments.

In addition, Open Rice can connect to Facebook , Twitter and Weibo. It provides updated discounts and special promotions. Find great offers at Open Rice!

However, are there any disadvantages to using Social Media Marketing?

As we know, many foodies like to share their comments and photos on blogs, not only the good comments, but also the bad ones as well. For example: Foodies share their eating experience on “Open Rice”, they give an opinion and marks for Taste, Atmosphere, Hygiene, and Service. If the MARK is low and the comment is negative, it affects the restaurant's image, and sales as well. The bad Word-of-Mouth is undoubtedly a disadvantage for the company.

-> 104 "unhappy faces" for the restaurant!

 --> The "fake" total amount!

Will comments like these affect your choice after you read them? Or would you still want to try the restaurant?
